I train and onboard schools to make sure that they are fully confident to use the system and help them achieve their admissions goals. My name is Julia Biddell, I am one of the Regional Sales Managers here at Applicaa. I have worked in the educational technology Industry for nearly 4 years and have been working at Applicaa since May 2022. I have previously been a Community Governor at a local RAF Primary School, which really drove my passion to work in the education sector, as I saw firsthand, all of the hard work that the teachers put in; to make a real difference in giving the best education to their students in their schools.
What made me join Applicaa, I was so impressed by how dedicated everyone is in the company; and how they truly understand the challenges that schools face on a daily basis with their admissions, after all, Applicaa was created for teachers by teachers! I personally enjoy talking to schools from Primary, Secondary, and Multi Academy Trusts, about how we can help streamline their admissions processes, giving their students the best start in their educational journey.
What a team Applicaa is! With many of us working remotely; and Internationally; catching up daily, and supporting each provides a great working environment. Pandemic really strikes hard for all of us in our daily lives. Been a teacher for 6 years & also an experienced call center agent for 5 years but due to the pandemic, it was taken from me. However, Applicaa have given me an opportunity to strike back. I have been at Applicaa for 2 years & 6months. I am a Technical Analyst under the Customer Support Department. I deal with level 2 issues which the support team & the CSM’s were unable to fix, also providing some suggestions to the CSM’s on how to have some workarounds for school’s requests & also provide suggestions on how to improve the system. I am also involved in the cloud integration working group & provide advice/suggestions for the development of our product. I stayed with Applicaa as it treats their employees as a family & always appreciative of the efforts made by the employees.

Hello! I’m Levi Capistrano, one of Applicaa’s customer success managers. I’m tasked to make sure schools are able to use the A+ / B16+ system at its full potential. I also answer support calls when you dial Applicaa’s number and you’re in need of help. At times you may also find me answering emails from tickets that you’ve raised as I can also be assigned to the tech team if need be. I’ve been part of Applicaa since June of this year and I think I’m able to help Applicaa grow as I serve well as an all-around customer service guy who ensures that no process is left unmanned. I’ve grown fond of everyone on the team and everyone is like a family to me, we got each other’s backs and are very glad to be of assistance every time, I think that what’s making me stay, it’s because it’s not only just work but we’re also able to help schools have an easier time managing students, applications and enrolments.

I joined Applicaa in January 2022 as a Product Manager, tasked with building new features that make the software ever more useful to our customers. Before working at Applicaa, I have worked in both the IT and Education sectors: In IT I have worked for software developers to help them build and configure systems that are useful for staff, and in the Education sector, I worked as both a teacher of Science & Psychology for 15 years, but also in roles overseeing school MIS systems, exams, timetabling and school network administration. I first met the team at Applicaa when they first launched Admissions+, and my school was an early customer. At the time I was really impressed by how quickly suggestions we made for new features were put into the software by the development team – sometimes practically on the same day, we asked for it. It was this desire to meet the needs of its customers that really impressed me about the team at Applicaa, so when I was offered the chance to actually make even more suggestions for improvements but to get paid to do it, I jumped at the chance! It’s this desire to make changes quickly to the software, and to be as responsive to our customers as we can that really sets our team apart from other suppliers in the Education space – many of whom are extremely slow to adapt and change their software, and seem to have a ‘take it or leave it attitude towards their customers. I love the fact that we read, and take seriously every suggested new feature request. It’s because most of us actually used to work in schools ourselves, we know first-hand what kinds of challenges our customers face, and what is important to you. And making something that is as useful and well-loved as our software is, is really a great job to have.

Hi, my name is Geoff Corbie. I am a Product Development Manager. I help to influence and define the improvements to Admissions+ for Independent Schools in particular, as well as Bursary+. I have worked in IT and Education all my working life. I joined Applicaa in November 2021. Prior to that, I was working for a large trust of schools that wanted to embrace the vision that Applicaa has and exploit the value that our products offer. I encountered the energy and friendliness of the Applicaa staff firsthand and wanted to be a part of it! Having made the move to the “other side”, I now enjoy the contact I have with school staff and helping them to do their job more efficiently, listening to their ideas and combining them with our own to create better products. Hello, I’m Guthrie co-founder of Applicaa, with my colleague Tim Dixon, and Managing Director. Tim and I used to work together at Greenford High School in London where he was Head of Sixth Form and we both taught Geography.
What led you to develop Admissions+?
While we were working at Greenford High, we realised that each year, like many other schools, Greenford was losing students after Year 11. Many would stay but others would leave to attend local colleges in the area or to move to other Sixth Forms. The harsh reality at that time was that numbers were down 20-30% in Year 12 which of course has a negative impact on school funding. At this critical stage, no school wants to lose students.

Harry is an ex-teacher of 7 years who has worked in Kent, Surrey, and internationally in Singapore. Harry joined Applicaa in 2021 where he initially support schools in Surrey and Kent to improve their admissions processes. Working within the team he prides himself on listening to customers to identify their key needs in order to provide the best solutions possible. Having had great success in the South West, Harry was promoted to Regional Manager across the whole of the South of England from Cornwall to Kent where he helped to support some of the largest MATS in the UK. Since September 2022, Harry was promoted to our MAT Partnership and Sales Manager to continue to support the whole MAT rollouts of our many products. Outside of work, Harry is an avid BJJ practitioner who tried to fit in his training between his busy family life with the recent addition of his first child.

I have been working with UK and International Schools for over 10 years now and joined the Applicaa family back in September 2020. Over the last two years I have helped us grow to over 1000 schools which is largely due to the fantastic products our Dev team have built, the majority of ideas coming directly from schools. The independent schools market is a hugely completive place and our platforms are customisable to help all establishments, whether that be to increase pupil numbers or ensure the right students are coming to your school and getting the help they need. I love being out and about meeting schools and have been lucky to attend a number of conferences already this year, including a fabulous week up in Edinburgh. Hello, my name is Tony Lockwood, and I am the Chair of Applicaa. I was a teacher for 16 years in the state sector. I became a Head of Science in a secondary school in Nottinghamshire and thoroughly enjoyed my time in school.
What led you to a career in teaching?
I decided to go into teaching because I had a good experience at school myself and particularly enjoyed a range of extra-curricular activities. I decided I wanted to give something back to my own local community and work with young people. During my teaching career, what inspired me most was the feeling that everyone had a chance to make something of their life and that I could try and help to bring that about and to help young people to realise their dreams.

My current position is Head of Windows App at Applicaa, dedicated to Admissions+ application since May 2020. Experiencing more than 9 years with Web & Enterprise Applications, I have gained comprehensive knowledge and expertise in this field to consult the most efficient tech solutions with well-trained business analysis and deployment skills. Before being a software architect, I was honored to be the Leader of the Microsoft Student Partner program (2013-2015) and graduated Bachelor of Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology – the top-notch college in Vietnam (2010 – 2014). I’m in charge of new-function development and UI/UX design for the A+ SIMS App mainly and A+ SIMS Sync App – tech products for Teachers and IT/Data Managers to transfer data between A+ and SIMS. Besides, I’m responsible for supporting any problems in terms of installation, usage, and other computer-related issues in different schools. It’s really an excellent chance for me to experience a global working environment, work directly with other colleagues from various departments and interact with academic organizations for assistance to put A+ into practice, which helps me understand more about the English educational system and people. On the other hand, I have broadened my horizon a lot by testing cutting-edge technologies and applying special features for Edtech products in the developing process.

I provide a broad range of creative services, including visual idea work, branding, design-for-print, and digital illustration, drawing on my 30 years of expertise in the graphic design field.
My present position at Applicaa entails providing graphic design skills, particularly with regard to the creation of product brochures and other marketing collateral. I’m employed in the marketing division, and I communicate with the marketing director about every project. Since October 2021, I’ve had the pleasure of working at Applicaa.
My responsibility is to assist with the development of Applicaa’s visual branding through excellent layout and captivating picture work, working in tandem with the Marketing and Technical teams. My work has contributed to the development of Applicaa’s visual identity and produced a unified brand that distinguishes it from rivals in the growing Ed-Tec sector.
It is constantly difficult to effectively describe the numerous procedures involved in the system through visual marketing since there are so many new and evolving goods available through the Applicaa platform. In Applicaa, nothing becomes stale or complacent, which promotes continual and gratifying graphic design engagement.

This is my journey. I started as a Data Entry Specialist here in Applicaa on the 20th of December 2021. Then after two months, I have been reassigned as Customer Success Support Admin and just last April 2022 I have been a part of the Finance Department which is quite challenging as this is different from when I started. Every day is a learning experience which is what I love about the role that I have now. What’s important is I love helping people and all of us here at Applicaa is doing what we can to ensure a successful company.

And I am so proud that I work here. I may not be on the front line, but I made sure that working at the back end, I still serve Applicaa’s mission, and that is supporting our people on the frontline (our RSMs and CSMs). My biggest contribution so far to the company’s growth may be was a faster turnaround time for invoicing and ensuring that our CRM and accounting system do have the same information when it comes to Accounts Receivable matters.

My name is Emma, and my journey with Applicaa started in January 2020. Seeking to grow and to contribute both individually and as a team member, I transitioned from a Graphics Web Designer, providing visual elements to the company’s website and marketing activities to a UI/ UX Designer, who helps to turn Applicaa’s software into user-friendly products for our clients. What has kept me at Applicaa for almost 3 years is the opportunity to wear many hats to become proficient in a lot of different kinds of design. I like the variety and freedom, as well as the control I can oversee my designs. I wanted to solve our teacher’s problems and make sure the solution was beautiful. Also, I must say teamwork at Applicaa plays a big part in the company’s success. I was one of the first employees who joined Applicaa when we only had 1 pilot school back in 2017. The system was very experimental but our small team believed in the idea of paperless Admissions. I helped the schools to understand the importance of a streamline admissions process, we initially started to work with 6th forms across the UK, it was not very easy in the beginning but definitely I enjoyed the journey. I was speaking with multiple schools daily and hearing their thoughts of a better admissions and enrollment process. The system was developed due to great feedback from our customers! We then expanded into the secondary and primary school market. We are keen to share our vision on an efficient and paperless admissions process with all the schools in the UK.
Applicaa has a great ethos and values within the team, the team feels like an extension of my family. I also really enjoy working with school leaders and sharing our vision across all the maintained schools.

Hi, my name is Chris and I’m a Customer Success Manager. I help ensure that schools are set up and have everything they need in place to use the platform successfully. I’m also part of the Support Technician Team who’s responsible for ensuring that support tickets and queries raised by customers are resolved efficiently and quickly as possible and making sure that they get the kind of service experience we want for them. Aside from that, I’m managing the MIS Migration Pipeline to help all schools who wish to change from their current to a new MIS.
