Welcome to ISBL National Conference 2023!

With the immense pressures on teams’ resilience and finances, the role of the school business leader continues to be building a more committed, focused team that can deliver under extreme pressure and meet ambitious deadlines with less.

The time for enlightened leadership has never been more paramount, where rational, evidence-based thinking must be central to all key and strategic decisions. It is critical that school business leaders are leading the discussions on the future strategic and financial planning of our schools and ensuring that governance and pedagogical colleagues are well- informed around about the choices that are being made.

Across the country, school leaders will be discussing and considering these opportunities and challenges, and the ISBL (Institute of School Business Leadership) national conference will provide access to:

• thought leadership discussions
• practitioner-led insights, and
• impact-orientated developments

and propose how this change management and cultural shift have been achieved.

The conference will consider how leaders can reinvigorate ‘development’ and ‘growth’ while still ensuring that they meet the needs of their community, and that both are possible with the available resources. It will also consider how to engage and development develop colleagues whose resilience and morale are low and how to reignite enthusiasm and shared ownership.

Our motivational speaker will round off day one, telling her own inspirational story, and challenge delegates to commit to several tasks (some more pleasant than others) to build their Mental Toughness immediately. That means people can better cope with extreme pressure and stress, meet insane targets and deadlines, and build a more productive, successful, and happy team.

The national conference will explore how school leaders can most effectively use their resources, including personnel, to deliver the greatest opportunities for pupil progress and development as we enter this new phase of education delivery in the UK
